Casting:

Ready Action Pitch Bait: Have a blue water rated rod rigged and ready to go can make your day when caught off guard…

1.  A big predator follows a hooked fish to the boat. Pitch a rigged and ready soft bait to tuna, mahi and many others.

2.  A lone predator is in your site such as a white marlin or cobia: Having a rigged Hogy is so much easier than digging for a live eel. You're always ready!

3.  Drop Bait: Light tackle your focus? Drop a rigged Hogy to a teased up billfish in your spread. A great alternative to the fly rod experience.

4.  You come across a school of finicky fish: Sometimes breaking fish are finicky or foraging on smaller bait fish.  A soft bait smaller than your trolling lures can often make your day!

Working Weed Lines and Offshore Structure:

Say you're trolling offshore and you come across a piece of debris such as a floating crate or perhaps a weed-line and you notice some mahi mahi hanging around.

Possible Scenarios:

1.  Changing up from trolling to light tackle for a change of pace.

2.  Casting at target while trolling: Especially easy on center consoles, try popping a cast at a target as you troll by.

3.  Offshore focus on light tackle: Sometimes trolling with heavy gear is overkill. Try casting our large baits for light tackle fun over structure.

4.    Marking Fish over structure: Try casting the Jiggin' Poppin' Hogy rigged Texas style over structure - an effective amberjack technique. For a deeper water approach, fish the 10" Jiggin' Poppin' Hogy on a large jig head down deep.

Umbrella Rig/Dredge Bar:

With their amazing action, we love Hogys when rigged on an umbrella rig or dredge bars. Inshore, folks will rig them with a stinger down the middle for striped bass. Blue-water folks rig them "hook-less" as a teaser rig, commonly known as a dredge bar. Popular dredge bait colors include black-pearl and rainbow bunker.

Connecting Hogys to Dredge Bars is easy.

a.  Dou-Lock Snaps: Clip the bait through the nose of the Hogy. The preferred method on our 7" Hogys.

b.  Hogy Bait Keepers: Just screw the Hogy to the keeper. Recommended on our baits 10" and above.

Hogys serve as a dynamite ballyhoo alternative when rigged behind a bullet style trolling head. The plastic we use is so soft that the baits will "humm" as the pass through the water. The action is incredible. Save time rigging. You'll be amazed at how they perform. Our favorite sizes for this rigging method are our 10" and 14" models rigged tandem style.

We strongly recommend the Hogy Hook Stopper between the trolling head and the bait, as it will seat the lure properly behind the head and prevent unwanted spinning.

Soft Bait daisy chains are incredibly effective in blue water situations where big gamefish are keyed in on smaller baits such as sandeels. Due to their incredible action, Hogys are dynomite when trolled offshore and can very easily be rigged as high-speed daisy chains. They are so soft, they quiver as they each dance along the chain with no tangling. We recommend the 7" and 10" Hogys for daisy chains with a 14" stinger.

Connecting Hogys to Daisy Chains is easy.

As a Trolling Lure Teaser:
